Peeling

Peeling is a longstanding peeling method used in dermatology for decades by those who want to renew their skin with herbal ingredients instead of chemical substances. This original herbal peeling system developed by Dr. med. Christine Schrammek delivers effective results for various issues such as acne scars, sunspots, fine wrinkles, and decreased skin quality, and can be personalized in three different protocols according to skin type. At our Kadıköy clinic, Peeling is planned and applied with a personalized protocol after skin analysis.

What is Peeling?

Peeling is a herbal peeling method in which a special mixture containing vitamins, minerals, and active herbal extracts is intensively massaged onto the skin. It contains no chemical acids; its mechanism of action is entirely mechanical and herbal. During the massage, herbal particles gently exfoliate the upper layer of the skin while simultaneously increasing blood circulation, supporting oxygenation, and accelerating the skin's renewal process. This method not only cleanses the surface but also stimulates new cell formation in the basal layer, supports collagen synthesis, and improves the quality of the skin tissue over time through deeper mechanisms. Proven reliable with over 60 years of clinical history, it can be applied to various areas including the face, neck, décolleté, back, and hands. Compared to chemical peeling methods, it offers a more controlled and predictable renewal process, making this application a reliable choice in skin care.

How is Peeling Applied?

Before the application, a detailed skin analysis is performed; based on skin type, existing issues, and patient expectations, the appropriate Peeling protocol is determined. For patients with allergy history, a small test may be applied to the wrist before the procedure; if marked swelling, burning, or itching occurs within 24 hours, the treatment is not suitable for that patient. On the day of application, the skin is first cleansed, then the Peeling mixture is applied to the area with intensive massage. The pressure and duration of the massage vary according to the chosen protocol; a mild warming and tingling sensation on the skin at this stage is considered normal. After the Classic protocol, the skin appears slightly pink and sensitive; this resolves within a few days. On 3. and 4. days, the skin gradually begins to peel, and on 5. day, the second session—Super Beauty care—is applied to complete the process. In this final session, rich-content Dr. Schrammek products are applied to the now receptive skin, leaving it purified from problems, bright, and clear in appearance.

What are the Types of Peeling?

The peeling system is applied in three different protocols according to various skin needs and intensity preferences. Each protocol is designed for a different depth of effect, process, and patient profile. We decide together which protocol will be applied after skin analysis and examination.

Who is Peeling Suitable For?

Peeling is effective for patients with acne scars, sunspots, and pigmentation issues; those struggling with enlarged pores and oily skin; individuals experiencing fine wrinkles and early signs of aging; and for those seeking to improve overall skin quality and radiance. It also offers a suitable alternative for patients hesitant about chemical peeling methods and preferring natural ingredients. However, Green Peel is not suitable for every patient. It should not be applied to individuals who are allergic to the herbal ingredients used, those with bacterial or viral skin infections, rosacea or similar dermatitis conditions, skin with telangiectasia or excessively reactive characteristics. It is also not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Suitability is always assessed after skin analysis and examination; if your skin is not suitable, alternative protocols will be planned together.

What Should Be Noted After Peeling?

After the Classic protocol, it is recommended to avoid contact of the face with water for the first 24 hours; water and soap may cause irritation during this period. During the peeling process, the skin should be allowed to renew itself naturally; forcibly removing peeling skin can damage the new skin and lead to scarring. After the procedure, the skin becomes much more sensitive to sunlight; direct sun exposure should be avoided for at least 4 weeks, and sunscreens containing SPF should be used regularly. Intensive moisturizing creams and Dr. Schrammek products recommended by your physician should be used throughout and after the peeling phase. Sauna, steam bath, and intense exercise should be postponed until the peeling process is complete. Makeup application should also be limited as much as possible until peeling has resolved.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many days does peeling take to peel?

In the Classic protocol, the peeling process typically begins on 3 and 4 days and completes within approximately one week. In the Energy and Fresh Up protocols, visible peeling does not occur; these two methods support skin renewal without peeling. The speed of peeling may vary depending on the individual's skin type and the intensity of the applied protocol.

When can I shower after peeling?

After the Classic protocol, it is recommended to avoid contact of the face with water for the first 24 hours. After this period, gentle cleansing with lukewarm water is allowed; hot showers and high-pressure water are not recommended during the peeling process. In Energy and Fresh Up protocols, the shower restriction period is much shorter; following your physician's post-care recommendations is the best approach.

How many sessions of peeling are applied?

The Classic protocol consists of 2 sessions: the initial application day and the Super Beauty finishing session on 5 day. It may be recommended to repeat several times a year to maintain long-term skin health. Energy and Fresh Up protocols can be planned as treatments that can be repeated more frequently according to need. The personalized number of sessions and intervals are determined during examination.
